It has been reported that our family came from county Mayo in Ireland – with later migration during the famine to Boston in the USA. Others migrated to county Clare and Galway. On a recent trip to Ireland, I “poked” around county Clare and Galway looking for LOFTUS representation. There were a few in Ennis, in county Clare. But person after person told me that the Loftus’s came from county Mayo. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to get up there – yet!
